The Picture below was taken from a boardwalk in California on a vacation I took a few months ago with my cousin. Out of the many shots I took of surfers, this was one of my favorites because it shows a general idea of the steps you would go through if you were going to surf. This photo is not manipulated with Photoshop; there are three different surfers, the nearest is waiting, the next is getting ready to stand up, and the furthest is already upright.
This photo was taken on the same boardwalk but earlier in the morning. The fishing pole caught my attention because it looked so lonely, despite all the people around. While taking this picture I didn’t think much of the shot, but the shadows and lighting turned it into one of my favorite in the series.

Besides the beaches and boardwalks we also visited theme parks. I don’t think this photo was necessarily an amazing shot, but I’m a sucker for silhouettes.
Along with my personal attatchment to this picture, it also reminded me of a photography lesson from earlier this year. We watched a movie about angles and lines, and I used the principles of diagonal lines to create this shot. I think the bottom right corner is not bright enough for the rest of the picture, but overall I like the way this photo turned out.
A few minutes away from my house there is a desert path that I walk every once and a while to get outside and think; during one of these walks I took a series of pictures at sunset. I liked many of these shots because of the lighting but this one was my absolute favorite. The tree caught my attention, but I’m not sure exactly why.
After taking one of my walks it started to rain, so I left the park and went to visit my family. There was a beautiful rainbow, so of course I got my camera out and started snapping away!
Once the rain cleared up my little sisters dove into the pool, and I had my camera out. This is Emily, she was about to jump in but I yelled her name to get her attention and this is the face she made at me.
These are my two cousins, we were having a big get together at my house, and they are the cutest little kids ever. They both have outrageous personalities and try to be like each other. The photo turned out great because not only do their clothes match, but they are making the same sort of face, even though they can’t see what the other is doing. I also think it portrays how the older sister has to love and protect the younger one.
It’s hard not to get a good picture in a place like Alaska. This was taken at glacier bay, one of the most amazing places I’ve been. I love the comparison between the two people surrounded by these huge mountains and a ridiculous amount of ice. It is an obvious representation about how nature is larger than life, almost.
This was also taken at Glacier bay, but has a more serene feeling. There are no people, just a simple picture showing nature in a pure form.
Although this is another rainbow picture, it has a whole different feel. I love that you can still see the rain and cloudiness in the background. This picture was manipulated in Photoshop; I changed the colors to more orange and darker tones, and made the contrast higher.
I love this picture! The sky is amazing, two completely different sides of weather are shown and go perfectly with the silhouette of my favorite tree.
Also taken at sunset, this picture stood out to me because of the clouds. It calms me down and makes me appriciate how pretty our dry, Arizona desert can be.
On our way to the airport we rode a bus, it’s not the most exciting shot, but it was important for me to catch the moment. I love to travel, and this was the begining of an adventure! I like it because it is symmetric and simple.
I can’t explain exactly why this is the greatest picture I have taken yet, but I am so happy with how it turned out. I spent a long time trying to get a shot like this; to figure out how to combine two worlds in one picture without any manipulation.
